We are pleased to announce a new paper from LINCS Lab, published in IEEE Open Journal of Vehicular Technology.

The paper, titled "Quantum-Native Resource Allocation for NOMA-Enabled NTNs: A Neutral Atom Approach,” is authored by Remon Polus, Patatchona Keyela, Soumaya Cherkaoui, and Ola Ahmad.

This work explores how neutral atom quantum computing can be used to address complex resource allocation challenges in Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) using Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA).

Resource management in next-generation wireless networks involves difficult optimization problems, including admission control, user clustering, channel assignment, and power allocation. These problems can become computationally expensive as network size and complexity increase.

The authors formulate the resource allocation problem as a Maximum Independent Set (MIS) problem over a conflict graph, enabling it to be mapped directly onto Rydberg neutral atom quantum processors. This hardware-aligned approach provides a new way to investigate quantum optimization techniques for future wireless communication systems.

The study evaluates the proposed framework in terms of admission performance, graph complexity, and computational behavior, and provides a proof-of-concept demonstration on a current neutral atom quantum processor.

This publication contributes to the growing intersection of quantum computing, wireless communications, and 6G networks, highlighting the potential of neutral atom processors for solving large-scale optimization problems in future communication systems.

Congratulations to the authors on this achievement!
