Infrastructure

Lincs Lab, a premier research facility at École Polytechnique Montréal, is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure that enables advanced cutting-edge research bridging communications networks and intelligent systems. Our work builds on disruptive technologies shaping the future of wireless communications, including:

    • Open RAN (Open Radio Access Network),
    • SDR (Software Defined Radio),
    • Virtualisation and containerisation, all pillars of 5G, 6G and beyond.

We also maintain a large-scale IoT testbed with over 100 connected devices, providing a rich environment for experimentation and real-world validation.

Our platform is built on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and open-source software, offering a flexible and scalable foundation for a wide range of research initiatives in:

    • Mobile edge networks,
    • Edge computing and distributed learning,
    • Applications such as:
      • IoT (Internet of Things),
      • IIoT (Industrial IoT),
      • C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-everything),
      • UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) systems.

This versatile infrastructure empowers researchers to prototype, deploy, and evaluate innovative solutions that advance the intelligence and performance of next-generation networks.
